Nothing quite prepares you for the scale. You've seen the Pyramids of Giza a thousand times in photographs — and then you stand at the base of one, look up, and every picture you've ever seen suddenly feels small.

Here's how to make your first visit count.

When to go

Arrive early. The plateau opens in the morning, and the first hours bring softer light, gentler heat, and far fewer crowds. Late afternoon is the other golden window — the stone warms to amber and the shadows stretch long across the sand.

What you'll see

Small things that make a big difference

Bring water and sun protection — there's little shade on the plateau. Wear comfortable shoes for uneven ground. And leave time. The temptation is to rush from one monument to the next; the reward is in slowing down.

Meet the pyramids. See history on a different scale.

Make it yours

A guided day removes all the friction — tickets, timing, transport — so you can simply be present. Our An audience with eternity is a focused day on the Giza Plateau, with time for the pyramids, the Sphinx and a relaxed Egyptian lunch.

Prefer to go deeper? The Pyramids are the opening chapter of our signature Egypt, unfolded journey — and just the beginning of what Egypt has to offer.
